post 30

Finally! ...for two reasons.

First off, I've finally had the time to write something.

And well, finally, the band audition for the Miriam HS fair finished yesterday and I feel so unexplainably neurotic. I want my band (& More) to get accpeted for the gig but at the same time, I'm pretty much concerned on what the band will decide on. We've recently decided in Inigo's behalf to list songs that we might do a cover on. Pretty much on the punk-emo-pop-top-40-on-the-brink-of-finally-conforming-type -of-music. Which is... really ok by me. We just HAVE to HAVE a solid set of songs that we could actually DO and build the confidence we so need to make the band successful. So there. What we need is more practice because constant doses of that will give us confidence--- our ticket to performing anything in the best way possible.

I shall stutter to all in lieu of Edwin, who finally met Kish: "Hu Yeah."

I miss Pleasure Box! :P

Anyway, the audition was really a new thing to everyone in the band. Well, obviously we were an astounded, nervous, slighly happy bunch of struggling musicians. We did Silverchair's "Freak" and Finch's "Letters To You" which apparently catered to the taste of only around 1/5 of everyone who watched. Hmmm... who to blame? Nobody. I guess it was pretty normal for us to undergo the pressure and every feeling that was synonymous with anxiety. We just had to get slightly intimidated for us to... grow as a band. Anyway, so we were there setting up. And the girls/judges were shouting gibberish. Probably the "get it on so that we could hear the next band" kind of talk at us. But who cares. I also heard "Go G-Boys!" and "Go Kelvin!" (?). Anyway, I looked at everyone: Inigo was walking around endlessly, Isi was staring at his bass, Fidel was smirking at me, Poch was frantic, and Edwin couldn't hear himself. Argh. And I was trembling. AAHH!! Nanginginig. Weird! I missed a cymbal one time (DAMN IT!) but my fills on the drums were ok. The timing in the Finch cover was.. a bit off. But I guess it was ok. Nothing terrible. The weird part was when another band did the same song and swept my bandmates' feet off. They were better: Puking Pink Potatoes. Argh. What a name! Anyway, I conversed with Rico who was auditioning as well. He plays the drums for Zither, the prog rock band which was better than our fiasco in a sense. Game Aint Over was also cool. Their guitarist looked eerily like Isi. Parang girl version niya. Astig. And "Panget Mo" was also there.. they're what's left of Diam. They did Blink 182 and Green Day..

Finally, this is the band's tentative song list (as decided at Poch's apartment):
[besides finch's "letters to you, silverchair's "freak", and incubus's "take me to your leader"]

Anyway, I was supposed to meet Jamie yesterday but she wasn't going to Ateneo so... nah, it's ok. There's always next time. Plus, it was raining really hard! Grabe. I'll be honest. I'm.. well.. (really) attracted to her. I don't exactly know why... Argh.

I've also found time to read Dogeaters. It's contemporarily realistic, erotic at times, and often profane. It's written by Jessica Hagedorn. And I'm doing a research about it for a major English paper.. believe it or not. So Jamie, I dunno about you. But I like and hate it simultaneously! Hahaha!

So there. That's pretty much IT for now...

Now to get some sleep.
