Last Saturday night was the band's debut gig @ a Holy Spirit batch party. Well, technically speaking. I mean I would like to think that Darth's first real show would include Rick Rein, our bass player. So we were the 9th band. Not surprisingly since we were added to the show just a couple of weeks ago. Thus we didn't have the choice what time we would play. Crammed yet something real for us to rehearse for. We just kept practicing nonstop (even in the van, changing songs til the last second). Fast-tracking to the gig, strepsil-ed Frank had it going. Yeaah.. :) "Not bad for a first gig," sabi nga niya. We were set in career mode, much thanks to Paul who just had to play 2 more songs, following a somewhat fake encore. Hahaha. Yeah. My hands took all the beating but I didn't mind since I was there willing to experience it.

Let's learn from it, guys. Some people are just plain difficult to deal with and that's where we're tested. Anger is very much part of being human but we have to keep our cool. Who cares about Jona Ople? A gig's a gig regardless of how much of a spaz the guy (what part of Hawaiian theme didn't you understand?) was to many of us (Saab, Paul, etc.), reacting in such a lame way regarding the sched mix-up. Attitude-wise, we all know the guy just reeked. Everyone's upset about how you talked things your way. It wasn't necessary to raise your voice. You looked us in the eye, so goddamn eager to play "Liwanag sa Dilim". Fine. Really. But you'll always be remembered for the one-of-a-kind farce you pulled off for yourself.

Too much McDonald's products guys, too much. Haha. We look like a tiny tiny tiny notch above the Masculados now.

The genre is, um.. FOCK. Ingredients are familiar (funk + rock) and jams have led us to form a group. Not a cuss word, it's... Ben Stiller minus the "er". Check Saab for more information about Darth, the fock band! (sounds lame i know..hehe). Repertoire includes a wide (believe me..) array of songs ranging from Rage Against the Machine to the 80's to 311 to Incubus even up to something as absurd as George Fucking Michael's "Wake me up before you go go". I cannot believe I typed that. For those of you who remember the schtick in Zoolander where a bunch of the Balls Models concocted this Orange-Moccha Frapuccino (that's LBM for you..), they sang that uber-gay song while drinking the diarrhea-causing crap..er..frap.

And so the ride has been fun. :D

The place looks a bit like a Mediterranean doobie wattershed. That is me with my brother Paul playing the guitar.
